Detailed answers for players, parents, coaches, and scorers using Switch Hit.
Getting the Most Out of Switch Hit
How to get the most out of Switch Hit?
Simple really, use the app more. The more data you log, the better the insights become. If you have 3 months of training data the AI coach will be able to help spot trends in form, workload, and mindset. But ultimately it is up to you, you can just use the app to log goals and keep you focused. This app has been built by cricket coaches and tested on players with fantastic results, but you only get out what you put in.
Why do I even need to use an app to do this, wouldn't pen and paper be easier?
Using pen and paper is great, but why not use the technology you have. By logging everything you can quickly see past records and more importantly learn from the past, and of course an AI coach does not exist on paper.
What is the Activity tab for?
The Activity tab is your central hub for viewing all your cricket activities. Here you can see batting, bowling, and fielding stats organised by training and match day performances. It is useful for reviewing your progress over time and spotting patterns in your game.
What should I log in the app?
Log training sessions, technique work, match performances, diary reflections, and quick check-ins. The more consistent you are with logging, the better insights the AI coach can provide.
Joining a Team
What are the ways to join a team?
You can join by entering the 6-character join code from your coach, or by scanning the team's QR code to auto-fill the code. Go to Profile > Team > Join a Team.
How do I join with a QR code?
Ask your coach to show the team QR code from Coach Dashboard > Team > Show QR Code. On the Join Team screen, tap Scan QR Code and point your camera at the QR. The 6-character code will auto-fill, then tap Join Team.
My code did not work. What should I check?
Double-check it is 6 characters, ask for a new code if the old one has expired, and make sure both devices have internet access and iCloud enabled. If the team was just created, wait briefly for iCloud to sync and try again.
Can I join multiple teams?
Yes. You can belong to more than one team and switch from Profile > Team. You can also leave a team from the same area without removing your personal cricket data.
Using Coach Mode
What is Coach mode?
Coach mode is the coach-first workspace in Switch Hit. It supports both full teams and 1-on-1 coaching, with dedicated areas for teams, activity, players, and private coach notes.
What are the main tabs in Coach mode?
Coach mode is split into Teams for team overview and management, Activity for training sessions, drills, assignments, goals and team match results, Players for roster access and individual dashboards, and Notes for private coach notes.
What is the player dashboard for?
The player dashboard is your per-player coaching view. It brings together that player's recent activity, bowling load, attendance, drill progress, and notes so you can see what needs attention without hunting through the team.
What is the bowling load counter in Coach mode?
The bowling load counter tracks net bowling load for a player so you can monitor how much work they have done across training. If you link the count to a training session, it can flow into the player's training review and help you manage workload more safely.
How can I use AI insights in Coach mode?
If you have premium access, Coach mode can generate AI insights from your team match history. The insights help you look for patterns across results and recent form so you can turn match data into something useful for planning and review.
Can I analyse coach notes with Apple Intelligence?
Yes, where available. On supported devices and iOS versions, coach note analysis can use Apple Intelligence features to help summarise and interpret notes. If Apple Intelligence is not available, you can still read and use notes normally.
How do I add a player who does not have the app?
Add them as a manual roster player from Coach mode. This creates an unlinked, coach-only player record. Once that player joins the app and appears as a linked account, you can merge the unlinked roster entry into their account.
Live Match, Wagon Wheel & Scorer Mode
What is Live Match mode?
Live Match lets you track your batting innings ball-by-ball in real time. Record every shot, dot ball, and dismissal as it happens. It is useful on match days when you want detailed insights into your innings.
What is the Wagon Wheel?
The Wagon Wheel is a visual map of your shots during an innings. Tap on the pitch to record where you hit each ball, and the app builds a visual diagram showing your scoring areas.
Can I share or import a Wagon Wheel?
Yes. After completing an innings, you can share your Wagon Wheel as a QR code. Someone else can scan it from Live Match > History to import the innings data for review.
What is Scorer mode?
Scorer mode is the scoring-first workspace in Switch Hit. It reuses the Live Match and Wagon Wheel flow, with quick access to recent innings, live scoring, and import tools.
Match Prep, Post-Match Review & Season Review
What is Match Prep?
Match Prep is your pre-match planning flow. Before a game, you can set your intention, choose your role for the day, review the upcoming fixture, and generate an AI game plan based on your recent data.
What is the Post-Match Review?
After a match, the Post-Match Review uses AI to analyse your performance, compare it with your pre-match intention when available, and turn the result into practical next steps.
What is Season Review?
Season Review is a longer-form AI report that pulls together your training, match performances, and broader trends across a selected period. It is designed to help you step back from individual sessions and understand the bigger picture.
How are AI Match Prep and Post-Match Review limited?
Premium access includes Match Prep plans and Post-Match Reviews with separate caps of 10 per month, or 100 per year on the annual plan. Trial users can generate one Match Prep plan and one Post-Match Review.
Diary, Goals & Fixtures
What is the Diary feature?
The Diary is your personal cricket journal. Use it to reflect on training sessions, matches, or how you are feeling about your game. Regular entries help track your mental state over time and give the AI coach more context.
Can my coach see my diary?
No, your personal diary entries are completely private. Coaches can only see training feedback you submit and performance data you have logged or shared.
What are Priority Goals?
Priority Goals are your top 1-3 focus areas that appear prominently on your Home screen. They keep your most important objectives front and centre so you do not lose sight of what matters most.
How do I add upcoming matches?
Go to the Fixtures section and tap Add Match. Enter the opponent, date, venue, and match type. Once added, the match appears on your Home screen with a countdown and quick access to Match Prep.
Form, AI Coaching & Mindset
Why is the Performance Analysis view as well as AI Coach?
Performance analysis helps you visualise training and match-day data, including how mindset links to performance. AI Coach turns that data into coaching guidance, and the longer you use the app the better the insights become.
How many AI reports can I generate?
Free users get a 7-day trial with up to 3 AI coaching reports. Premium users receive 20 reports in the first 30 days, then 12 reports per month. Match Prep and Post-Match Review are capped separately.
What types of AI coaching are available?
Switch Hit offers AI Coach Reports, Season Review, Match Prep Plans, Post-Match Reviews, and Coaching Tips based on your logged data.
Why does Switch Hit include mindset rings or session-feel logging?
Mindset tracking helps cricketers understand how emotional and mental state affects training, focus, and performance. Logging session feel, match feel, or a diary check-in provides useful context beyond stats.
Training, Game Day & Progress
How do I add a training session?
Go to the training tab and tap +, then Log Training. If you choose a future date, the form automatically shows scheduling options, including recurring sessions such as weekly club training.
How is match performance tracked?
Match performance is tracked through the Match Day feature. You can record batting statistics, bowling figures, and fielding details for each match, and the app calculates performance metrics automatically.
How does the XP system work?
Switch Hit rewards your cricket activities with Experience Points. You earn XP by completing training sessions, recording match performances, setting and achieving goals, maintaining a diary, and using the app consistently.
Can I add my club badge?
Premium users can upload a custom club badge that appears on their profile and Home screen. Go to Profile > Settings > Club Badge to upload your team's logo or crest.
Account, Privacy & Reminders
What is included in the premium tier?
Premium includes the full AI coaching workspace: AI Coach reports, Season Review, Match Prep, Post-Match Review, advanced analytics, club branding, and an ad-free experience. In coach mode, premium also unlocks the stronger match analytics workflow and team insight surfaces.
How does data syncing work between my devices?
Switch Hit syncs your data across devices when you are signed in with the same Apple ID and iCloud Drive is enabled for Switch Hit. Syncing happens automatically in the background and may take a few minutes to complete.
Is my data secure?
Your data is stored securely in iCloud using Apple's encryption. Switch Hit does not sell your personal data or use your cricket data for targeted advertising.
What types of reminders does Switch Hit send?
Switch Hit sends helpful reminders such as weekly check-ins, match preparation reminders when you have a match scheduled, weekly reflection prompts, and gentle return reminders if you have not opened the app for a while.
